In the framework of the new music project "Ithaca - Path to music", Sakis Papadimitriou will present live on November 9 & 10, 2018, the Piano Voices album at Beton7-Arts.
Approximately thirty years have passed since Sakis Papadimitriou has released his previous solo piano album. This year the great artist enters the studio and records the album "Piano Voices". The recording takes place in Thessaloniki, produced by "To Pikap Records" and is one of the most important musical events of the year.
Sakis Papadimitriou is one of the pioneers of contemporary Greek jazz music and an emblematic figure for the city of Thessaloniki. Innovative improvisation pianist and writer. Focusing on the present moment, the unexpected and the surprise. For more than 50 years he has a made a “restless” and creative journey both in music and writing.
The live recording of the duet with Floros Floridis in 1979 in the legendary jazz club of George Barakos, gave birth to the first record of the Greek jazz discography. "Improvising at Barako" was the title of the album, which was released in 1980.
Since the late 1960s, Sakis Papadimitriou has begun publishing prose and music studies, and since 1975 he has communicated his love for jazz by his radio programs of ERT Thessaloniki and Athens.
He has collaborated and improvised with great musicians worldwide, and he has recorded for the great LEO Records.
19 personal albums, 20 books, countless concerts and honouring excellence in Europe, participation in international committees on music, cinema & performing arts, numerous collaborations with publication & magazines, music festival organizer, film tributes, music workshops and seminars include the total work of a unique journey.
