Program (in detail)
24 hours continuous improvised music 23/11 (21.00-09.00) and 24/11 (09.00-00.00) The I.S.E. Ensemble organizes 24 hours of continuous live improvised music. Via an open call they invite musicians and sound artists to apply to take part in this collaborative event. The music will range from contemporary improvised experimental music through to sound art, field recordings, soundscapes and noise art. A special feature will be the regular presentation of podcasts created especially for the event. Guest musicians will be able to contribute either via their physical presence on stage or via live web-based streaming. As part of the festival artworks that approach the relation between the different media will be presented, lectures and discussions related to new media and the broader field of contemporary art will also take place.
The project will be on air live at Beton7ArtRadio (www.beton7artradio.gr)

Performance 23-24 November 2012 Fragments of the Unseen-Live Exploration A Medea Electronique Project http://www.medeaelectronique.com/theunseen/
Credits Ioanna Kampylafka – Dance Artist Michael Larsson – Video artist Manolis Manousakis – Sound artist Fragments of the Unseen is a continuous site-specific project initiated at the Koumaria Residency 2010.Fragments of the Unseen had been taking place also at Hydra, London, Thailand. A performer explores the environment with the use of multiple cameras and a set of binaural microphones attached to their body.Like a transformable creature, the performer reveals in part their identity similar to a chameleon that creates new shapes and changes its basic characteristics suitable to the environment. Fragments of the Unseen-Live Exploration @ Beton 7 During the first live exploration at Beton7 the performer captures live the movements of the spectators performing to the sounds of all past explorations. Revealing the process followed at all previous fragments the performer with a set of cameras in her hands exposes the unseen side of the viewers. At the beginning of each hour of the 24 hour event at Beton7 a short performance will take place at the gallery place followed by the screening of the previous fragments. The complete performance will consist of 24 live performances. Each performance will be unique, since the constituents of the space change according to the number of people, time and physical behavior of the performer. The documentation of the process will be presented at a separate event. The aim of the project is to identify environmental, sociological or political subjects that have the ability to juxtapose, contrast or question established ideas of a given space or situation. By exploring the above thematic directions – without an earlier frame of reference – the purpose is to gain awareness of a particular space and convey this through a reconstructed expression. Exposition Beyond Reasoning 4 channel audiovisual installation 23-28 November 2012 14h30-20h30
4 video channels 4 audio channels 4 screens 4 performers
The noises of a society are in advance of its images and material conflicts (Jacques Attali) What is the noise of the “crisis”, and of the vast economic reforms? Beyond Reasoning, Medea Electronique’s recent work, is a four channel audio visual installation piece inspired by Attalis work Noise . In our work Beyond Reasoning, noise ranges from the extreme silence to the extreme noise. Noise is any disruption of any social process, any source of pain. At the extreme it kills. However, it is disturbing and offensive. It is beyond comprehension and challenges our habitual way of thinking and reasoning. Therefore, such a noise art environment becomes a private vacuole (noncommunicational cocoon) of self-reflection, where a newfound depth of self-understanding is achieved, as well as a disillusionment of social spectacles and ideologies. In Beyond Reasoning we see the inability to express any emotion of resistance. Our four characters, powerless stand in front of the camera and their reactions to the soundtrack represent their failure to react against the establishment.

The artistic group, Medea Electronique, was founded in 2006. Independent artists from different art fields (music, video art, painting, animation, interactive technologies) bring together their specialties, forming a certain style in the field of multimedia. Medea Electronique is the creative meeting of active people who share the same love for the 'new', for art and innovation. The result of that meeting is a series of artworks that cover a wide range of what we call 'art', from multimedia theatrical plays and experimental audiovisual performances, to electronic concerts and dancing performances using interactive technologies.
