Michael Papadopoulos BeBop Quartet at ΒΕΤΟΝ7 Center for the Arts

The guitarist Michalis Papadopoulos, after years of absence in Switzerland, returns to the jazz scene of Athens with a dynamic jazz BeBop Quartet having with him the leading greek bass player Giorgos Antoniou. The group also consists of the virtuoso serbian pianist Sreten Bukusic and the well-known drummer Seraphim Bellos.

Giorgos Antoniou grew up in Athens and lives in Bern, Switzerland since 1994. He has collaborated with jazz legends such as Johnny Griffin, Benny Golson, Phil Woods, Cedar Walton, Benny Green, Charles a. Davisk. His last appearance was in 2007 in Athens with the trio of great American pianist Benny Green. Michalis Papadopoulos grew up in Athens and lives in Zürich, Switzerland from 2007. He studied music first at the Athenaeum Conservatory and later participated in many international jazz workshop with leading musicians such as Barry Harris, Peter Bernstein, Dave Stryker, Stefon Harris, Bruce Forman, etc. Michael Papadopoulos Quartet will present a program of BeBop jazz that will travel us to New York of the 'Golden' 40s and 50s. They will play known, but also some less known compositions of Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Stitt, Barry Harris, etc. as well as some jazz standards.
