Jean Racine (1639-1699), one of the leading French dramatists, balances precariously between the Court conspiracies and the academic conservatism of the 17th century, lodges behind artful expression dark and sick passions, announcing in a unique way the internals of contemporary playwriting dilemmas.
Berenice, Titus and Antiochus are existing persons. The love of the Roman Emperor Titus with Judea Queen Berenice (70-80 AD) is mentioned in historical texts. Racine, however, handled the incidents with great freedom and wrote a unique play that presents these three tragic figures.

A simple defenseless love story. Although we are free, how capable and determined are we to get our lives in our hands? The project, the show, the actors and the audience have to decide.
